This is a profile of one of Britain’s greatest war heroes. “Monty’ successfully commanded Allied forces at the legendary Battle of El Alamein and troops under his command were largely responsible for the expulsion of the Axis forces from North Africa. He was later a prominent leader in Italy and North-West Europe where he was in command of all Allied ground forces during Operation Overlord.

THE DOOLITTLE BAID
They are called the Doolittle Raiders, a band of 80 World War II airmen who volunteered for a top-secret mission into enemy territory. Designed to retaliate for the bombing of Pearl Harbour, the mission, if successful, would boost U.S. morale. Led by Jimmy Doolittle, the Raiders became American heroes.
